Where to Go and What to See in Somerset

Welcome to Somerset! Or if you’re up with the local lingo – Zummerzet. Nestled here in the South West of England, Somerset really is a magical county, stuffed full of history, culture and most of all its own quirky style and charm. From rivers and rolling hills to caves, cathedrals and coastlines, we really do have something for everyone. Medieval towns steeped in mystery, fairies, wizards and warlocks - whether you’re a history buff, nature enthusiast, or simply looking for a peaceful retreat, why not visit Somerset and discover it all for yourself?

In this series of blogs we will look at where to go and what to see in Somerset when you do visit. What are our top attractions? Where can you go when it’s wet, windy and wild? And if you’re staying here at Marsh Farm Glamping, what are our hidden gems within 4 miles of the farm?

From Cheddar Gorge to the famous Wells landmarks (Hot Fuzz anyone?), the Haynes Motor Museum to the Pitney Farm Shop, we’ll take a look at the good and the great. We’ll also recommend seasonal events and activities, from spooky happening and paranormal pubs, to our local Church in the Field’s Christmas market.

If you’re wondering where to grab a gift or how to hire a bike, which café has the creamiest cappuccino or where to pick up some stunning Somerset pottery, then take a look at our Meet the Makers series. This champions our diverse and incredibly talented local artisan makers and producers, of which we have plenty!

So grab a cuppa, put another log on the fire, and start planning what to see in Somerset on your next great glamping getaway today.
